Mechanical Engineer – Submarine Sustainment

About the role

As a Mechanical Engineer at Babcock you will support the sustainment and refurbishment of the Collins‑class submarine fleet, delivering practical, high‑quality engineering solutions and ensuring technical outcomes are achieved safely, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering solutions to complex design and configuration challenges.
• Conduct technical investigations, configuration control, set‑to‑work, testing and trials across the full product lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation and knowledge records.
• Ensure compliance with product safety, quality, risk and change management processes.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of design, analysis, manufacturing and support techniques throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Experience in technical writing and engineering reports.
• Knowledge of product safety, quality, technical risk, configuration and change management processes.
• Proactive, collaborative attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PLM and MRP systems.
• Use of design, simulation and analysis software.
• Technical writing and documentation skills.
