General Physician / Staff Specialist – General Medicine

About the role

The Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital is seeking a General Physician / Staff Specialist to join its Division of General Medicine. This full‑time or part‑time position is offered on a fixed‑term basis for up to five years, providing high‑quality care across inpatient, outpatient and Hospital‑in‑the‑Home services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist care in General Medicine and Infectious Diseases to patients in hospital and community settings.
• Manage inpatient admissions, outpatient clinics, and coordinate Hospital‑in‑the‑Home services.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient management.
• Participate in clinical teaching and mentorship of junior medical staff.

Required profile

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in General Medicine.
• Eligibility to practice medicine in the Northern Territory.
• Commitment to delivering patient‑centred care in a tertiary referral environment.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in General Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
• Ability to work across inpatient, outpatient and community‑based services.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
