Ecologist, Environment and Planning

About the role

Aurecon’s Melbourne Environment and Planning team is seeking an Ecologist to support a variety of projects across renewable energy, transport and defence sectors. You will combine field and desk work to deliver ecological assessments that inform project design and delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ecological field surveys, including native vegetation, flora and fauna assessments across Victoria and occasional interstate sites.
• Perform targeted threatened species surveys, including nocturnal monitoring when required.
• Prepare comprehensive Ecological Assessment Reports.
• Provide internal ecological advice to project managers and the broader Environment & Planning team.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of ecological consulting experience in Victoria.
• Knowledge of Commonwealth and Victorian environmental legislation and policy.
• Tertiary qualification in botany, ecology or environmental science.
• Current Victorian driver’s licence.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
