About the role
The Director of People and Culture will lead all human resources, training, and industrial relations functions for a historic hospitality precinct in Perth’s CBD. This senior position is responsible for shaping a positive, inclusive culture, attracting top talent, and ensuring compliance with Australian labour legislation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement the People and Culture strategy aligned with business goals.
- Oversee recruitment, selection, and onboarding for all venues within the State Buildings.
- Manage employee relations, fostering open communication and a fair workplace.
- Lead performance management and professional development initiatives.
- Design and deliver comprehensive training and development programs.
- Ensure all HR policies comply with relevant legislation and are consistently applied.
- Handle industrial relations matters, including negotiations, dispute resolution, and liaison with external legal counsel.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the People and Culture team and senior managers.
Required profile
- Proven experience in a strategic HR role within the hospitality industry.
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline.
- Strong ability to interpret industrial instruments, legislation, and HR policies.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex industrial relations issues.
- Experience partnering with senior management to drive organisational change.
Required skills
- In‑depth knowledge of the Fair Work Act and its application.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict‑resolution capabilities.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
