Cyber Engineer – Security Operations

About the role

The Cyber Engineer – Security Operations will protect Fortescue’s digital environment by designing, implementing, and operating security controls, with a primary focus on email security. Reporting to the Superintendent of Cyber Security Operations, you will work across Cyber Security, Infrastructure and Workplace Technology teams to enhance the organisation’s security posture.

Key responsibilities

• Support operation, optimisation and continuous improvement of enterprise security controls, especially email security technologies.
• Configure, maintain and enhance controls against phishing, business email compromise, spoofing, malware and other email‑borne threats.
• Implement and manage email authentication and domain protection (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
• Analyse email threat trends, user behaviour and control effectiveness to reduce human cyber risk.
• Monitor, investigate and respond to security alerts, incidents and participate in cyber incident response activities.
• Conduct threat analysis, develop use cases, detection logic and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with technology, infrastructure, digital workplace and business stakeholders to improve security controls.
• Support security monitoring across cloud, endpoint, network and identity domains and contribute to security engineering initiatives.
• Assist with security assessments, control reviews and continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

• Experience in security operations and email security management.
• Ability to work collaboratively across Cyber Security, Infrastructure and Workplace Technology teams.
• Strong analytical skills for threat analysis and incident response.
