Works Supervisor – Abandoned Mine Remediation

About the role

The Works Supervisor role is based in Townsville (or Charters Towers) and supports the management and remediation of abandoned mines across Queensland. You will supervise on‑ground works and contractors to safely deliver activities such as shaft capping, infrastructure decommissioning and earthworks.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise ground works associated with abandoned‑mine remediation, including high‑risk earthworks, shaft repair, and water management.
• Provide technical and operational advice on safe work methods and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation.
• Prioritise and manage contractor activities across multiple sites, maintaining clear communication with landholders, project teams and stakeholders.
• Conduct site inspections, trip planning, risk assessments and support water‑monitoring activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of remediation progress.

Required profile

• Recognised trade qualification in building and construction, metal fitting and fabrication, or mechanical maintenance.
• Relevant experience in building & construction, mining or heavy industry environments.
• Valid high‑risk (HRW) licence and a C‑class driver licence.
