Senior Ranger

About the role

Join the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation to protect Queensland's iconic natural wonders. As a Senior Ranger you will lead strategic management of Bribie Island Recreation Area, Pumicestone Passage in Moreton Bay Marine Park, South Stradbroke Island Conservation Park and Southern Bay Islands National Park.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee visitor management, compliance and enforcement across high‑traffic park areas.
• Lead a team of 12 staff, including 9 on‑site rangers at Bribie Island.
• Collaborate with external agencies on bushfire mitigation, incident response and emergency management.
• Engage with First Nations peoples and incorporate cultural considerations into park management.
• Provide strategic direction for the protection and sustainable use of the designated parks.

Required profile

• Demonstrated senior‑level experience in natural resource or land management.
• Proven ability to manage compliance, enforcement and high visitor volumes.
• Leadership experience supervising multidisciplinary teams.
• Understanding of cultural landscapes and experience working with First Nations communities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
