Senior Manager Tax

About the role

Join Transport for NSW as a Senior Manager Tax and use your finance and accounting expertise to shape a sustainable transport network for New South Wales. You will work within the Finance Division, providing senior advisory support on complex tax matters and influencing strategic decisions across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret tax legislation and manage tax risk for major transport projects.
• Provide clear, practical advice to senior leaders and translate technical tax concepts into business‑friendly recommendations.
• Lead a team of three tax professionals, driving improvements in systems and processes.
• Collaborate with cross‑agency stakeholders to ensure compliance while supporting strategic outcomes.
• Balance competing priorities in a dynamic, multi‑agency environment.

Required profile

• Proven leadership and stakeholder management experience, preferably from a Big 4 or ATO background.
• Strong ability to navigate ambiguous, technically challenging tax issues.
• Relevant qualifications in accounting, business or law, ideally CA/CPA or postgraduate tax credentials.
• Demonstrated experience applying tax legislation in complex, real‑world scenarios.
