Senior Events and Festivals Officer – Operations

About the role

The Senior Events and Festivals Officer (Operations) will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of major events, multicultural festivals and community celebrations across Hume City. This fixed‑term role focuses on operational excellence, safety compliance and stakeholder collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Direct end‑to‑end event operations, from concept through post‑event wrap‑up, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct risk assessments, develop safety protocols and emergency response plans, and maintain detailed compliance documentation.
• Manage the permitting process, oversee on‑site logistics, coordinate vendors and enforce safety measures.
• Engage internal departments, external vendors, emergency services and community partners to achieve event objectives.
• Maintain comprehensive event records and perform post‑event evaluations to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving ability and independent judgment within legislative and budgetary frameworks.
• Extensive knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements for public events.
• Proven experience in operational planning, delivery and evaluation of large‑scale events.
• Leadership experience in supervising and developing staff.
