About the role

NT Health is recruiting Resident Medical Officers (RMO) and Senior Resident Medical Officers (SRMO) for Royal Darwin Hospital and Palmerston Regional Hospital. The positions involve delivering acute and community‑based care across a broad range of specialties while rotating through remote and tertiary sites in the Top End.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment in general medicine and selected subspecialties.
  • Participate in surgical, anaesthetic, emergency and intensive care rotations.
  • Deliver culturally safe care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Manage complex trauma and infectious disease presentations.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, teaching and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake on‑call duties and respond to emergencies as required.

Required profile

  • Medical degree and current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Eligibility for RMO2‑RMO3 or SRMO (MO4) level based on experience.
  • Willingness to work in remote, rural and tertiary hospital environments.
  • Commitment to professional development and community health.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
