Rehabilitation Consultant – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

About the role

The Island Health Division of Rehabilitation Medicine is seeking a Rehabilitation Consultant to join a team of eight physicians. The role provides consultative physiatry services at Victoria General Hospital, with possible coverage at Royal Jubilee Hospital and surrounding communities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive rehabilitation assessments and treatment plans for patients with neurological conditions, post‑traumatic injuries, and amputations.
• Provide outpatient and inpatient care, coordinating with a full range of medical, surgical, and psychiatric specialists.
• Utilise on‑site diagnostic services such as X‑ray, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine and sonography to inform patient management.
• Offer procedural support including epidural and facet injections when indicated.
• Maintain a consultative, directive care model without night call responsibilities.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible physiatrist with a strong interest in neurological, post‑traumatic and amputation rehabilitation.
• Experience in hospital‑based and outpatient rehabilitation settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
