Purchasing Officer – 12‑Month Contract (Hybrid)

About the role

The Purchasing Officer will ensure smooth operations by making smart purchasing and planning decisions for Fresh Produce and Ready‑to‑Heat categories. Working closely with the Sourcing team, you will support category roadmaps and continuously improve processes.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end purchasing, planning and purchase order execution for allocated categories.
• Translate demand requirements into accurate, timely ordering across fulfilment centres.
• Partner with Sourcing to align supplier capability, availability and commercial outcomes.
• Monitor and manage inventory, service levels and waste performance.
• Drive ordering discipline, cadence and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify risks and implement proactive supply and inventory actions.

Required profile

• 3+ years’ experience in purchasing or planning.
• Experience in fresh produce, ready‑to‑heat or other perishable/short‑shelf‑life categories is highly regarded.
• Strong commercial judgement balancing cost, availability and waste.
• Confident stakeholder management across suppliers and internal teams.
• Data‑driven with strong attention to detail.
• High availability with disciplined inventory, reduced waste and cost leakage, and strong supplier alignment.
