Psychotherapy Registrar (Advanced Psychiatry)

About the role

This one‑year accredited training placement is for an advanced psychiatry registrar with a specific interest in psychotherapy. The role is based within St Vincent’s Health Melbourne and combines clinical work in the public mental health service and a private psychotherapy‑focused clinic.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver psychodynamic psychotherapy to adult patients in both public and private settings.
• Provide individual, family and group psychotherapy as required.
• Participate in on‑call roster for St Vincent’s Mental Health Service.
• Engage in formal educational courses to develop specialist psychotherapy skills.
• Attend reflective groups, topic seminars and receive expert supervision for all treatment modalities.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent qualification.
• Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA or eligibility for general registration.
• Current national criminal history check or willingness to obtain one.
• Registration as a medication prescriber.
• Commitment to the values and health‑care philosophy of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.
