Project Engineer – Military & Civil Works (GS-11/12)

About the role

We are seeking a Project Engineer to lead quality assurance and construction management for military, civil works and environmental projects within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New England District. Reporting to the Resident Engineer, you will work from Middleborough, MA and enjoy a high degree of autonomy in planning, execution and problem‑solving.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee quality assurance activities to ensure project deliverables meet contract specifications.
• Manage construction phases of military, civil works and environmental projects, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges, providing engineering solutions that align with project goals.
• Prepare and review project documentation, reports and compliance records.
• Collaborate with the Resident Engineer and multidisciplinary teams to drive project success.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program or equivalent education and experience.
• Professional registration such as Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. jurisdiction.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently under general direction.

Required skills

• Strong foundation in engineering sciences (statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, materials).
• Knowledge of construction management principles and quality assurance processes.
