Professor of Social Work

About the role

The University is seeking a Professor of Social Work to provide strategic, academic and research leadership across its Canberra, Melbourne and Strathfield campuses. This senior academic role will shape the direction of the discipline, foster high‑performing teams and strengthen partnerships with community and government organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and accreditation of national Social Work curricula and educational outcomes.
• Ensure Social Work programmes meet professional and educational standards and deliver high‑quality learning for students.
• Provide research leadership that advances knowledge, drives a strong research agenda and supports staff research capability.
• Collaborate with the Associate Dean (Research) to build an active research training environment and a vibrant research culture.
• Promote collaborative, high‑performing culture and strengthen external partnerships.

Required profile

• Distinguished academic and research record in Social Work within higher education.
• Strategic thinking ability with high‑level communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in negotiating, leading innovative improvement initiatives and business acumen.
• Strong soft‑skill capability to mentor, coach and empower individuals and teams.
