Primary Education Assistant (Junior & Intervention)

About the role

The Queen of Apostles Primary School is seeking a dedicated Education Assistant to support junior primary classrooms and literacy intervention programmes. This full‑time, temporary position begins in Term 3 and contributes to the school’s mission of nurturing the whole child in a Catholic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers with daily instructional activities for Pre‑Kindergarten to Year Six students.
• Support targeted literacy interventions such as MiniLit, MacqLit, InitiaLit, and Toe by Toe.
• Foster positive relationships with young children and help create a safe, inclusive learning atmosphere.
• Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and flexibility in responding to classroom needs.
• Collaborate with staff, families, and the parish to promote student wellbeing and academic progress.

Required profile

• Certificate III or IV Teacher Assistant qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in junior primary settings and literacy support programmes.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, a positive attitude and sense of humour.
• Ability to work under the direction of the classroom teacher and maintain confidentiality.
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate is desirable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of literacy intervention strategies (MiniLit, MacqLit, InitiaLit, Toe by Toe).
