People Operations Specialist (Remote)

About the role

Mercor is seeking a People Operations Specialist to design and maintain deterministic HR scenarios for its AI‑focused clients. This fully remote contract position involves building rigorous, data‑driven processes that support employee lifecycle events and benefits administration.

Key responsibilities

• Develop long‑horizon people‑ops tasks with rubrics that grade agent performance against verifiable ground truth.
• Create scenario libraries for employee inquiries, benefits questions, and policy responses aligned with plan documents.
• Design onboarding/offboarding checklists, leave decision flows (FMLA/ADA), and FLSA classification rules.
• Construct HRIS update workflows for data changes and benefits enrollment based on rule‑based eligibility.
• Ensure all scenarios are challenging, require focused sessions, and are documented for repeatable use.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in HR operations or people operations.
• Strong written communication with the ability to articulate step‑by‑step reasoning.
• Familiarity with HR policy artifacts such as offer letters, change forms, and leave decisions.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with HRIS platforms (Workday, Rippling, BambooHR, Gusto, Justworks).
• Leave administration expertise (FMLA, ADA).
• Benefits administration and FLSA classification knowledge.
