Parks Maintenance Officer

About the role

The Parks Maintenance Officer joins Hume City Council’s Turf Management team to maintain and improve reserves, streetscapes and recreation areas across the municipality. This permanent full‑time position involves operating a range of park machinery and ensuring sites are safe, clean and well‑presented.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve designated reserves, streetscapes and recreation areas.
• Operate tractors, front‑deck mowers, trucks, brush‑cutters and other park machinery.
• Collect litter and branches before mowing and remove them from the site.
• Apply weed‑control treatments using knapsack sprayers in line with industry best practice.
• Leave work sites tidy and ensure all plant and equipment meet council safety standards.
• Inspect and report any damage, vandalism or hazards to the Team Leader.
• Carry out programmed mowing, maintenance and improvement works across parks and reserves.

• Ability to operate a variety of park maintenance equipment safely.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and reporting maintenance needs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in diverse conditions and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail to keep sites clean and presentable.
