Mid-level Interior Designer

About the role

alkimi is seeking a passionate Mid-level Interior Designer to join its award‑winning studio in The Rocks, Sydney. You will collaborate with senior designers on large‑scale workplace, commercial and hospitality projects while also having the chance to lead smaller assignments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concepts through to detailed design, including client briefings, sketch planning, documentation and on‑site construction support.
• Create complete design packages, technical drawings, tender documents and FF&E schedules.
• Facilitate client workshops, presentations and stakeholder communications.
• Coordinate with project managers, construction partners, suppliers and external consultants.
• Manage smaller projects independently and contribute to larger team efforts.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for design and the built environment.
• Proven track record of creative concept development and strong documentation skills.
• Experience in client management and clear communication.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes and ability to work autonomously.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to sustainable, human‑centred design.
• Ability to sketch and draw by hand.
