Mental Health Staff Nurse – Band 5

About the role

The South West Yorkshire Partnership Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the multidisciplinary team at Cheswold Park Hospital, a 112‑bed low and medium secure facility for individuals involved with the criminal justice system.

Key responsibilities

• Provide person‑centred nursing care to patients in a secure mental health setting.
• Collaborate with doctors, psychologists, social workers and other professionals as part of the MDT.
• Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to care plans.
• Support patients in achieving therapeutic goals and promote recovery.
• Adhere to infection control policies, including up‑to‑date flu vaccination.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (NMC) with a current licence to practise.
• Enthusiasm for forensic nursing and experience or strong interest in secure mental health environments.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care.

Required skills

• Knowledge of forensic mental health nursing principles.
