Junior Accountant – Family Office (Sydney)

About the role

This is a full‑time, permanent Junior Accountant position within a well‑established family office in Sydney CBD. You will join a small, close‑knit finance team where your work has immediate impact and you will gain exposure to private wealth and investment accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of accounting records for family members, including bank reconciliations, journal entries and month‑end close processes.
• Prepare investment reporting, manage the Praemium database and liaise with share registries and investment brokers.
• Compile year‑end tax workpapers, maintain capital gains registers and ensure quarterly IAS obligations are met.
• Process accounts payable, bank transfers and inter‑company loan accounts.
• Handle annual company secretarial duties such as ASIC returns and upkeep of group structures.
• Provide technical guidance on BAS, income tax and broader compliance matters.
• Support process improvement and systems optimisation across the finance function.
• Undertake ad‑hoc tasks as business needs evolve.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience, preferably from a graduate program, mid‑tier accounting firm or Big 4 audit background.
• Currently CA‑qualified or willing to commence CA studies (support available for the right candidate).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for dealing with sophisticated stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and a proactive ownership mindset.
