Head of People & Culture (Remote)

About the role

The Head of People & Culture will lead the strategic and operational HR agenda for ANROWS, Australia’s leading research organisation dedicated to ending violence against women and children. Reporting to the Chief of Staff and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, this remote role will shape culture, drive workforce strategy and support the CEO and executives through a period of rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the People & Culture strategy and workforce planning.
• Strengthen organisational culture, employee engagement and leadership capability.
• Partner with senior leaders on organisational change, transformation and succession planning.
• Design and implement modern people systems, frameworks and processes.
• Lead employee and industrial relations matters, ensuring compliance with Australian employment law.
• Promote psychosocial safety, wellbeing and trauma‑informed practices.
• Oversee remuneration frameworks, organisational development initiatives and provide strategic workforce insights to the Executive and Board.

Required profile

• Proven senior People & Culture or HR leadership experience in complex or purpose‑driven organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, organisational change and growth.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with senior executives.
• Resilience, sound judgement and high emotional intelligence.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of Australian employment law, industrial relations and compliance frameworks.
• Expertise in organisational development, workforce planning and change management.
• Experience building or enhancing people systems, frameworks and processes.
