Head of Farm

About the role

QBE is seeking a Head of Farm to lead the strategic direction, product design and underwriting of its farm insurance portfolio for the intermediated channel. This senior position will drive profitable growth, ensure a positive customer experience and maintain compliance with underwriting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set and deliver the farm product and underwriting strategy aligned with QBE’s SME growth ambitions and risk appetite.
• Own portfolio performance and P&L, driving sustainable profitability through disciplined underwriting, pricing and portfolio optimisation.
• Lead underwriting execution for new and renewal business, applying strong technical judgement and robust risk controls.
• Monitor underwriting outcomes and portfolio trends, using data‑led insights to take corrective action.
• Build and lead teams of underwriters and technical specialists to support strategic portfolio management.
• Develop strong broker relationships and foster a high‑performance underwriting culture while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Commercially minded underwriting leader with experience at the intersection of risk, technology and transformation.
• Proven P&L and portfolio management experience within SME or middle‑market insurance.
• Ability to balance deep technical underwriting leadership with portfolio‑level decision making.
