Government Lawyer – Public Law & Litigation

About the role

SPA Australia is seeking experienced Government Lawyers to join its Legal Group. You will work side‑by‑side with Commonwealth legal teams, providing expertise on complex administrative, commercial, information law and litigation matters.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist legal advice and support on high‑profile government projects.
• Participate in secondments across Commonwealth agencies, handling a variety of public‑law issues.
• Collaborate with senior counsel to develop strategies for litigation and regulatory compliance.
• Engage in pro‑bono work, environmental initiatives and community volunteering as part of the firm’s impact program.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in public law, commercial law, information law or litigation within the Commonwealth or a State Government.
• Hold a restricted Australian legal practising certificate (ACT, NSW or VIC).
• Possess an AGSVA Baseline security clearance or be able to obtain and maintain one.
