Executive Director – Women’s, Children’s & Families Services

About the role

The Executive Director will lead the Women’s, Children’s and Families division of Central Queensland Health, overseeing a workforce of approximately 390 FTE and a $50 million operating budget. This senior position is responsible for driving systemic change, ensuring safe, high‑quality care across maternity, neonatal and paediatric services throughout the region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for women’s, children’s and families services, meeting activity, quality and financial targets.
• Direct a $50 million budget and manage a multidisciplinary team of 390 staff.
• Develop and implement integrated, person‑centred models of care across all sites.
• Lead service redesign, standardising clinical pathways and models of care.
• Offer professional leadership for nursing and midwifery, promoting clinical excellence and accountability.
• Maintain a visible presence across facilities to strengthen clinical governance and support staff.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration with a tertiary qualification in nursing and/or midwifery.
• Extensive senior leadership experience in complex clinical service lines within a large health service.
• Proven ability to deliver performance across activity, quality and financial outcomes.
• Deep expertise in clinical governance, safety and quality frameworks.
• Strong workforce leadership skills, including capability development and multidisciplinary team management.
• Highly developed financial acumen with experience managing significant budgets.
