Design Engineer – Transmission Infrastructure

About the role

As a Design Engineer at Transgrid, you will play a pivotal role in delivering major transmission line infrastructure projects that support Australia’s transition to cleaner energy. You will collaborate with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders to ensure designs are robust, compliant and aligned with project objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and deliver engineering designs for large‑scale transmission line projects.
• Work closely with internal engineering teams, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders to achieve fit‑for‑purpose design outcomes.
• Ensure designs meet technical standards, safety requirements and delivery schedules.
• Support design integration activities and assist with the preparation of technical documentation and specifications.
• Help resolve engineering and design‑related issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in engineering design within major infrastructure, utilities, transmission, energy or construction projects.
• Experience supporting the development and review of engineering drawings, technical specifications and design documentation.
• Understanding of transmission line, civil, structural or electrical engineering principles in large‑scale projects.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants and suppliers.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and organisational abilities.
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
