Dean of Rural Dentistry & Oral Health – Associate Professor

About the role

Charles Sturt University seeks an outstanding academic leader to serve as Dean of Rural Dentistry and Oral Health while also holding an Associate Professor/Professor appointment. This full‑time, continuing position will be based in Orange, Australia, and combines strategic leadership of the Centre with high‑impact teaching and research.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic leadership for student‑centred teaching and research in dentistry and oral health.
• Lead the Centre as Dean/Associate Head, setting strategic direction, ensuring accreditation and academic quality.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with industry, government and community stakeholders.
• Deliver high‑quality teaching, supervise research students and secure research funding.
• Drive curriculum innovation and support regional health outcomes.

Required profile

• Doctoral qualification in dentistry or a related discipline (or equivalent academic standing).
• Eligibility for registration (or current registration) as a Dentist with Ahpra.
• Internationally recognised research record with success in obtaining research funding.
• Significant leadership and management experience in higher education or clinical academic settings.
• Deep understanding of dental education, accreditation processes and the Australian health system.
