Datacenter Technician

About the role

Sharon AI is expanding its AI infrastructure team in Melbourne and is looking for a hands‑on Datacenter Technician. You will work in a live operational environment, supporting high‑performance compute and AI workloads by maintaining critical data‑centre hardware and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain data‑centre hardware including servers, storage systems, networking equipment and racks.
• Perform structured cabling works across copper and fibre infrastructure to industry standards.
• Support rack‑and‑stack deployments, hardware upgrades, migrations and decommissioning activities.
• Monitor systems, respond to operational alerts, incidents and service requests.
• Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity and infrastructure‑related issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation such as layouts, asset registers and operational procedures.
• Conduct routine inspections of power, cooling, airflow and physical infrastructure.
• Follow change‑management and ITIL‑aligned governance processes.
• Collaborate with engineers, vendors and stakeholders to ensure service reliability and uptime.

Required profile

• Proven experience working within live data‑centre or critical infrastructure environments.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of server hardware, structured cabling and networking concepts.
• Experience with fibre and copper cabling installation, testing and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with switching, routing and enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Understanding of PDUs, UPS systems and cooling infrastructure.
• Customer‑focused mindset with excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Working knowledge of ITIL processes and service‑management principles.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, ITIL or similar are highly regarded.
