About the role
Datacom’s Cybersecurity Defence Operations Centre (CDOC) is looking for a Level 2 Cybersecurity Analyst to join its mature SOC team operating across Wellington, Auckland and Brisbane. You will use defensive measures and intelligence from multiple sources to identify, analyse and report security events, protecting customer networks and information.
Key responsibilities
- Perform regular tasks and help define security processes.
- Review and respond to alerts, events, incidents and escalations from the 24/7 SOC team.
- Develop security use cases and correlation rules.
- Identify and build automation solutions.
- Recommend policy changes based on analysis findings.
- Conduct proactive threat‑hunting activities.
- Interface directly with customers on a fortnightly basis.
- Collaborate with team members, support groups and business units to ensure security policies are understood and risks are managed.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members.
Required profile
- Australian citizenship or ability to obtain a baseline security clearance.
- Experience in incident response, vulnerability assessment and threat intelligence.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Required skills
- Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
- Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) technologies.
- Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and Lockheed Martin Cyber Kill Chain methodologies.
- Familiarity with NIST 800‑61 and NZISM frameworks.
- Hands‑on experience with threat hunting and incident response processes.
