Concreter – Full‑time Civil Construction Role

About the role

Parkes Shire Council is seeking a full‑time Concreter to join its Operations team. The successful candidate will help construct and maintain the council’s civil infrastructure, including roads, footpaths, kerbs, driveways and stormwater drainage.

Key responsibilities

• Perform concrete activities such as formwork, pouring, screeding and finishing.
• Assist with general construction and maintenance tasks including pothole repair, road and footpath upkeep, cycleway work, kerb and gutter installation, drainage, bridge structures and traffic control.
• Carry out works survey set‑out and operate small plant, tools and equipment.
• Maintain a safe work environment and follow council procedures.
• Undertake any other duties as directed by Parkes Shire Council.

Required profile

• Current, maintained NSW driver’s licence.
• SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card).
• Demonstrated experience in all aspects of concreting and civil construction labour.
• Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces, excavations and at heights.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with flexibility to work early or late hours as required.

Required skills

• Concrete formwork, pouring and screeding/finishing.
• Operation of construction plant and small machinery.
• Medium Rigid (MR) NSW driver’s licence (or higher) – preferred.
• Traffic control qualifications (Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control plans) – preferred.
• Confined space training – preferred.
• Working at heights training – preferred.
