Bookkeeping Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeping Manager to lead our offshore bookkeeping team and manage a diverse client portfolio for a leading, award‑winning accounting firm operating on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane. This senior role combines team leadership with high‑quality bookkeeping delivery in a technology‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and mentor up to five offshore bookkeeping staff, including team leaders.
• Serve as the primary contact for an assigned client portfolio.
• Oversee the accuracy of bookkeeping tasks such as bank reconciliations, payroll processing and statutory reporting.
• Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines (BAS, IAS, PAYGW, payroll tax, TPAR, superannuation).
• Lead onboarding, training and performance development of bookkeeping staff.
• Assist with accounting software integrations, conversions and transitions.
• Liaise with the ATO on client payment plans, penalty remissions and compliance matters.
• Identify and resolve inconsistencies through high‑level reviews.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in public practice.
• Proven experience supervising and reviewing the work of multiple staff members.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously.
• Experience in the building and construction industry is an advantage.

Required skills

• Advanced Xero (Xero Advisor and Payroll certifications).
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MYOB, QuickBooks or Dext.
